    Let’s talk more about WWOOFing!

The first time I WWOOFed was when I left to Japan and Korea for three months. Alright, but what is WWOOFing actually? Yeah, what is that?! Why two ‘w’ in a word? Because it’s an acronym, which stands for “World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms”, which began in the UK some 50 years ago (1971). The name changed numerous times, and for a good reason to my opinion. The first version was  ‘Willing Workers on Organic Farms’… Something sounds a bit fishy, I think. Anyway, WWOOFing is mostly to work in farms (among other things, like hotels, animal station, shops, restaurants, animal rescue center but I suppose we can find mostly farm jobs) and in…

A story of mine on the French national radio?

The story I still travel with.. For those who know me very well know that I am pretty much obsessed with the French radio ‘France Inter‘. When I come back to a more sedentary life, back to the post office, that radio follows me everyday. For the summer, Elodie Font was hosting a radio podcast called ‘Chacun sa route‘ about any kind of travel (spiritual, ecological etc.), which I was listening happily every day. If there is a thing I want to share, for sure my trips are one of them (isn’t that blog a proof?). So I sent an email to Elodie. She quickly replied and we organised a small audio story. The pitch was…

    Vietnam

The next destination won’t disappoint. That’s plainly impossible, according to the fellow backpackers I meet alongside the road, particularly around South East Asia. And to be honest, it did not disappoint, indeed. One question I often get asked is ‘what’s your favourite country?’. I mean, I’ve only been to Asia and Australia so far (and some countries in Europe), so my spectrum is not so wide. While I don’t really like this question myself and don’t ask it, people will say it anyway. Vietnam is most often the incontestable winner on all grounds, whether food or landscapes (maybe not so much people, but that is apparently not so important for the people I meet). Even…

    Somewhere between Bali & Lombok

I’ve been wasting some time (I don’t really consider it a waste, but the writing process was on pause) to enhance my blog, like creating a logo based on one of my former drawings, “commissioned” by the guesthouse Aurélie and I worked at in Sapporo (I haven’t been paid, fortunately, regarding to the quality of it — I didn’t translate the article yet, but for whoever is interested in seeing the pictures I still linked the article), modified on the application Photoshop Express. I also used that software for the banners (fonts included). Which means that I should better hurry, I’m in Thailand, I’m still four countries behind. Why do I keep being off topic?

    Bali

Now that we are ready to go, and that you’re aware about the biggest scam I know (granted, I don’t know much obviously about Indonesia), I can finally write about the trip itself! Let me tell you that it’s much more enjoyable. I will divide the trip in 3 sections, the one I did already about Mount Batur, this one about the main island of Bali and lastly one about the paradisiac islands. We land in Denpasar where we only spend one day. I gotta say that for a big city, since there’s plants everywhere, it looks prettier. Also the architecture is interesting. I mean, it is still ugly, but in a pretty way if…

Sunrise hike in Mount Batur: why you shouldn’t go there.

Sorry about the clickbait title, but I really want, no sorry, NEED you to read about the sunrise hike to Mount Batur before you consider hiking it yourself. The message I want to convey is the reason why I decided to write this article even before the one about our trip in Bali. Within the last few days, we’ve been noticing a lot of customs around here, like tying chooks, goats, dogs or cows to a tiny rope, whether in Bali or Philippines. More than ever I want to act and try to do something about the dreadful conditions of the environment and other beings. Therefore, other than publishing bad reviews for the Mount Batur…

How to get prepared for a trip in Bali

After a short trip between Brisbane and Sydney, as I previously told me, Aurélie and I are flying towards the most famous destination in South East Asia from Australia: Bali. After spending three weeks there, I can say without a doubt that I understand why it’s so famous. For this adventure, I’m gonna divide in 3 articles, one about how to get prepared (according to the title, this one) and two for the trip. It’s not exactly what I initially planned but after what we lived in Mount Batur, I decided that it needed its own article. Spoiler alert: DO NOT GO THERE. Here, as I tried to introduce, I will give some tips and…

    Red Devil on Fire

I wrote this article a long time ago, and it was a pure translation of my article in French. It was also my first article written in English and I really didn’t like it. First of all, it was way too short for everything we did there, and while I was explaining in length the job, I barely mentioned the road trip Dante and I did, yet, it is the main thing I remember now. So, what’s that about the Red Devil on Fire? Hell? Hell no! I present to you: cherry-picking (red, got it? sounds pastoral, doesn’t it?) in Tasmania (the devil we did not see) during the bush-fires season. Cherry-picking experience in New…
